La Bienal AR&PA 2016 ha cosechado una vez más un notable éxito de asistencia y participación, cuya organización estima en más de 20 mil visitantes, a la vez que ha conseguido sostener de manera eficiente el inmenso foro que el propio evento supone. El auditorio Miguel Delibes ha contemplado la puesta en escena del patrimonio cultural español y portugués, a través del conjunto de profesionales y entidades públicas que luchan por sacarlo a flote. El evento ha constituido la prueba palpable de que el patrimonio cultural no solo es parte esencial de la memoria social, sino también un motor importante de desarrollo económico y social. De todo ello se pueden extraer tres puntos clave, pilares del sector del patrimonio cultural desde el punto de vista profesional, educativo y tecnológico.

Es obvia la importancia de la formación y la educación necesarias para que la ciudadanía valore como se merece su propio patrimonio cultural. Es por ello gratificante contemplar la afluencia de público ajeno al sector, en especial gente joven y niños, que han visto en la Bienal un lugar donde conocer, aprender y disfrutar de su patrimonio, gracias a la buena cantidad de talleres interactivos y todos aquellos stands bien planteados.
Sin embargo, la verdadera protagonista de AR&PA 2016 ha sido la apuesta por la tecnología. Conceptos como Big Data, datos enlazados, web semántica, territorio inteligente han resonado entre las paredes del auditorio durante los cuatro días del evento. Se trata, sin duda, del resultado derivado de la buena gestión profesional, que pone en valor el patrimonio de una forma moderna, eficaz y dirigida correctamente al gran público.
Dentro del ámbito tecnológico, destacan aquellas iniciativas destinadas a la digitalización y monitorización del patrimonio, su custodia y su divulgación. Se han presentado dispositivos capaces de controlar las condiciones óptimas y dotar de seguridad a edificios patrimoniales, así como experiencias inmersivas que reproducen la visita de todo un entorno con tan solo ponerse unas gafas de realidad virtual. Destaca también la web semántica, capaz de comprender e identificar contenidos adaptados al usuario, de gran valor en la museística. Con todo ello, el patrimonio cultural ha dado un paso firme y seguro hacia el futuro, tomándose en serio a sí mismo.
